The concept of an International Consortium for Regional Research Institutes and Centers has grown out of numerous discussions at meetings of the Regional Science Association International. Representatives from most iCoRRIC members belong to the RSAI.

CORRIC's initial development and organization was coordinated through the Regional Research Institute at West Virginia University (www.rri.wvu.edu). As we grew and developed, the need for an independent organization became apparent. The ability to act, adapt, and respond quickly that accompanies an independent organization is not fully in place. iCoRRIC is expected to play an increasing role in coordinating and organizing member events and activities, contributing to the Regional Research infrastructure.

An iCoRRIC Governing Board meets regularly to discuss new member applications, iCoRRIC programs and services, and to plan upcoming events.
